FINAL PROJECT
BUILDING CONNECTIONS
PROJECT INTRODUCTION
This project aims to create a healing environment for the ageing population within Rotterdam. The scheme is deeply rooted within its context, integrating characteristics and geometries present in the surrounding site whilst also providing a beneficial service to the community. The building responds to four key elements: designing for disability, maintaining visual connections, encouraging patient interaction and sustainability. Consisting of two main environments, the building encompasses solid volumes which act as ‘homes’ for the patients, as well as a light and airy atrium which becomes a hub of activity due to the multi-purpose spaces which are contained within. Ultimately the scheme creates a ‘home from home’ for the patients, forming a self-contained community which allows an environment reminiscent of every-day life.

I created a project book which gives an overview of the development of this project from initial ideas and research to the final outcome. If you are interested in learning more about how I developed the final architectural scheme, please contact me for a copy of my project book.

TECHNICAL STUDIES
Alongside the design process, I also developed a technical solution to the building. Download the technical dissertation below.
